Bosch Ignition coil

It's Bosch KS with a turbo 5K coil. The turbo coil is known to work very well for 18+ PSI, and I am firing it earlier in the cycle than most, which should make the job of sparking easier.

Pros: works well for high boost, easier sparking

NGK Spark plug

I just installed some of these NGK (BKR6E) plugs. I set the gap to .030 These went my 99 A4 1.8T Avant Quattro. The car is stock except for a K&N filter. Idle seems awesome and flawless all the way through the rev range.

Pros: awesome idle, flawless rev range
Vehicle: Audi A4
Part number: BKR6E

OEM Audi Brake caliper

I only ask because Ive been running this set-up for 2 years now. And its a minimal change, if not the same, effort to push the pedal...But the car is alot more controlable when braking than it was with the G60 set-up. Personally I like it better than most high performance set-ups for braking and feel...but it could stand to lose a few hundred lbs from the calipers.

Pros: more controlable braking
Cons: lose a few hundred lbs

Hawk Performance Brake pads
KosB5
  • Braking:
  • Dust:
Rating 4.0

What Wal said. I replaced pads with Hawk HPS which is a compromise street/performance pad so the feel of the brakes was changed. 1. Brake Fade reduced 2. Initial pad bite not as effective as stock pads - once warmed up OK, thats a trade off with ... 3. Reduced dust easier to manage 4. More pedal pressure required, this was due to larger rotor and the caliper sitting further out. This showed up a limitation of the rubber caliper bushings used in the stock calipers. Once replaced with metal bushings (Tyrolsports bushings) brake feel significantly improved. At the end of the day if you are talking about stopping in a shorter distance then many factors come into play including pads, tyres, weather etc. Assuming all the other factors are addressed then the A8 upgrade will give you some extra breaking \"power\" but the significant improvement is in reduced fade or repitition of that stopping power. The trade off is that the more fade resistant or race application the pads are then the less initial performance until optimal pad temp is reached. The HPS are a good compromise and I know that if I plant the foot the car will halt with this upgrade better than stock.

Pros: Brake fade reduced, reduced dust
Cons: less initial pad bite

Mobil Engine oil
WMP
  • Engine noise:
Rating 5.0

I switched to Mobil1 5w-30 shortly after purchasing my 99.5 1.8T and I haven't had any problems, as a matter of fact my cold-weather starts noticeably improved and oil temperatures seem to be consistently lower during normal operating conditions.

Pros: cold-weather starts improved

AMSOIL Oil filter

I prefer Amsoil and their filter...I drive about 187 miles per day when training and the right oil makes all the difference. I tried Mobile 1 the first time but think Amsoil works better.

Pros: Amsoil works better

OEM Porsche Brake pads
TTigg
  • Braking:
Rating 3.5

I've already had my 3.2 TT at the track (same brakes) and after the 3rd session (out of 5) the brakes began to fade. Also by upgrading you would also get a weight saving although with these HUGE brakes prob the same (lol). Actually I still think even with these you'd save 20-30lbs for both corners.

Pros: weight saving, cornering improvement
Cons: brakes began to fade
Vehicle: Audi TT

Bosch Brake discs

I have seen the Blaster coils burn Bosch rotors down to a stump. I don't know if something might have been wrong with the system--timing, wrong plug, etc. But it happened.

Cons: burn Bosch rotors
