Not sure about the Forester, but common issue on Outbacks. You can't adjust the brightness, but you can adjust the angle. You need a long shank Phillips screwdriver and you can angle the lights down a bit

Yes, I replaced the head gaskets in our 2008 2.5 non turbo Outback at 120k miles. They started leaking oil externally at probably 80k miles.
2015 Outback head gasket failed @ 194k miles last year.
I had an 07 Outback that always leaked oil even after I replaced the head gasket…which I did every 50k miles.
My in laws cvt transmission went out at 45,000 miles and they wanted $10k to replace. Thankfully they ended up replacing the cvt under extended warranty.
