I just got back from a 3 day Audi Driver's School at the Autobahn Country Club in Joliet, IL., and just had to post a testimonial on how well the brake pads performed. The Carbotech XP8's far exceeded my expectations in every way. They are somewhat expensive, but worth every penny. If you are one of those people (like me) who is not ready to drop 2+ Grand on a big brake kit, the Carbotech's are the next best thing. My first touch on the brakes almost sent me into the steering wheel. Wow, what a difference. Once the pads were broke in and bedded, they were a little more "user friendly." There is only a very slight occasional squeek on the city streets when you brake. The infrequent noise is a necessary compromise for the braking ability these pads provide on the track. I do way to many events over the summer to swap pads every event, so these were a good dual-purpose pad for me. If you do any lapping days- try these pads. Drive fast, have fun and be safe!

Bosch icons or Valeo Ultimate wipers. The new Rain-x ones are the same concept. I bought a set of Valeos shortly after I bought my Audi 90 back in 2003. When I bought the GTI and sold the 90, I switched the blades so I had the Valeos on the GTI, and they are still FLAWLESS.
yea r1 concept is a good brand. my friend has them on his 2000 tt and he installed them himself , both the brake pads and the rotors. he painted his calipers red and with the drilled and slotted rotors it looks sick.
mine was a direct swap. i kept the stock housing and replaced the pump on the inside. took me about 20 mins to do it the first time...
I must say I am very happy with the bite and performance of the pads. Vast improvement over stock. Made more dust in the beginning, but now its fine.
Bosch battery from Pep Boys here in Raleigh, NC was $89. A couple lights were on the dash after I replaced it, and I called the dealer. They said after driving about 50 miles or so, all the electronics reset themselves. With tax, it cost me $96 and about 15 minutes to change the battery.... The Bosch battery I bought was actually a couple lbs lighter than the factory A4 battery as well...
You can also pick up a Bosch battery that fits for around $120 at Pep Boys. I changed out the battery on my 02 about 6 months ago and other than waiting a day for the power windows to reset there was nothing else that needed resetting.
I've owned an 01 225 Coupe for one year this past November. It's an AMU motor code and I love the car still. These are the things I have had to replace so far, not counting upgrades: Brakes & brake fluid & front rotors (Hawk HP, ATE superblue) $350
I found a nominal improvement in braking power and feel with the 12.3". But as NOVAdub stated, the biggest impact was on repeatability.
I put in a set of BP6ES today, gapped to .022", and had every bit the misfiring problems as before, and probably a bit more severe and more frequent.
