Garrett Turbocharger

I just ordered this turbo and have it going in my 2013 Fiat 500 Abarth along with the following new mods:

Price is great and is advertised as TD04 sized but oem fitment and comes with a calibrated wastegate so that saves even more money by not having to buy a forge unit.

Pros: great price, calibrated wastegate
Vehicle: Fiat 500

OEM Volkswagen Turbocharger

In my case no early sign of upcoming failure. It would throw an EPC light and lose power. Stopping, shutting the car off and restarting clears the EPC light and returns normal function of the car. Same situation will repeat randomly.

Pros: clears EPC light, returns function
Cons: EPC light, lose power

OEM Honda Turbocharger
omne51
  • Power:
Rating 1.0

The turbocharger has failed **three separate times**. Each failure caused: Multiple warning lights / sensor faults, Severe loss of power / limp mode. Turbo was **replaced each time by Honda dealers**. Dealers have told me the likely cause is **cold-weather oil sludging / oil dilution clogging the turbo oil feed**

Cons: turbo failures, oil sludging
Vehicle: Honda
Mileage: 70000 km

Cummins Turbocharger

My old man bought a '22 Limited 2500 with the Cummins and it was the biggest piece of shit ever. We've been a lifelong Dodge family and it was a massive disappointment. The turbo was replaced once at 32,000 miles and then again at 89,000 miles and he traded it in after that.

Cons: repeated failures, poor quality
Mileage: 89000 km
