I use Amsoil in every vehicle with an engine that I own...this has not changed for 25 years. Amsoil is so good I'd pour it over pancakes if I ran out of syrup.
Owner reviews for engine oil
I use strictly Redline oils for all my fluids except premix. Engine oil is Redline 10w40.
I use 10w40 full synthetic oil, and only the best quality stuff. Valvoline, Castrol, Pennsoil, Mobil1, Idemitsu end the like. Before my rebuild, I was using Idemitsu Rotary blend but switched to Castrol GTX. The GTX semi synthetic blend had a slightly lower oil temp and lasted longer per oil change than the Idemitsu, indicating that it was lubricating better.
I think you will find out Castrol EDGE® Euro Car 5W-40 A3/B4 Full Synthetic is a better all around oil then and oil I’ve owned Volkswagen all my life and that’s all I’ve ever run in my vehicles never had a problem and if you want to run the 10,000 miles between oil changes this oil will handle it
I keep a running supply of pennzoil ultra platinum 5w30 around as 4 of our vehicles use it. I start to worry when I have less than 10 quarts.
I'm a big Brotella Bro. I've used Rotella T6 in my WRXs, Miata, sport bikes, and dirt bike.
mobile 1 is a good brand. id go with it
On a side note, if anyone really wants to see what their oil change interval should be, just get an actual oil sample analysis done. Per the lab reports, I can get 8k miles on quality synthetics and still have a good safe margin for oil life.
Ford is telling me to change oil at my Focus every year or every 15000km (9300 miles)
Well, some manufacturers do have way shorter oil change intervals than Euro manufacturers. The Subaru severe driving interval is 3000miles/6 months, and I do lots of short trips in a desert climate so I usually try to be around 3-4000 to stay on the safe side for warranty and whatnot.
