Why not just buy the Mobil 1 and take it to the dealer?
Owner reviews for engine oil
BMW used to recommend you changing oil basically every time you blink, back when consumers paid for 100% of all maintenance. But in order to be more competitive, they began offering 3 year included free maintenance on all new vehicles.
I suggest running Shell t6 5w40
My 2925 Passat is happy on the Mobil 1 esp synthetic.
Liquimoly 5w40. That stuff is money. Used to use Castrol in my RS4 but constantly was consuming between changes. Switched to Liquimoly and it stopped. Now i use it in all my vehicles including my bike. I just wait til NAPA has em for half price as they do right now then buy jugs. Just changed the Golf.
I use liqui moly as well (4200 long life), seems like it doesn't really matter, but picking oil with the correct grade (507/505) is key.
Pennzoil because it runs about 20°F colder for me.
I had really really bad lifter tick after I fixed the timing on my NA(you can see on my latest post) I put marvel mystery oil in it about 6/8th of a quart after dumping a quart of my oil which was at full before, let it idle for 10 minutes or so by that time the tick was almost fully gone took it out for a 3 minute drive down the street(I have no working radiator fans) went through all gears tick is completely gone only a little during start ups I hear that that’s normal, safe to say I am ready to change my oil back to normal.
Pennzoil. I've run conventional, semi synthetic, and full synthetic. Nearly 200k miles, still kicking like a mule. 7500 mile oil changes on the reg, some to 9000. No signs of slowing down.
I was running Mobil 1 for many years in my 14 ST3 and started with Mobil 1 in my now 16 ST3 but this year I swapped to Walmart brand full synthetic and haven't had a single issue except for extra cash in my wallet. It meets all the specs and I change it every 5 thousand miles regardless of how the car is driven. I'm at 86 k now on the odometer and she still pulls string like the day I picked her up.
