Auto trans are almost never worth putting work into and better off replacing imo.
Nissan has had huge problems over the last 15-20 years with their transmissions. Nissan has sourced automatic transmissions for all of their front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive models for the past 20 years from a company called Jatco, known for making awful transmissions. They're notorious for failure, especially when not religiously maintained, and cannot be rebuilt when they do fail, forcing Nissan owners to buy an entirely new transmission when theirs fails.
