I could not believe the improved braking performance after switching to Hawk ceramics on my GTI. Honestly it went from mediocre to great.

Belated follow up. I replaced the plug at the distributer as the signal from the hall sender was intermittent. Brand new Bosch plugs were had for cheap.

My Father works for Akebono. We run their pads on a lot of cars (Mainly my GTI and a buddy's FoST) and I prefer the Euro sport ceramics to hawk HPS pads or any other pads I've tried. The Euro Ceramics are absolutely great. They have greatly decreased dusting over stock, less noise when both cold/hot, and stopping power is improved over stock.

i have akebono pro act ceramic pads on my golf with 20thAE brakes. they dont seem to be wearing down in the past 5 years, and the rotors have no grooving or wear on them. nice change from doing an annual 4-wheel brake job :thumbup:

I went through two sets of Akebono Euro pads on my golf. I'm planning on putting a set on the 996. They wear well, stop well, and have low dust.

The Akebono ceramic pads give off a low-visibility tan dust...but on occasion, I miss the grip of the stock pads. Was definitely a worthwhile tradeoff though: Much less to no dust for a barely perceptible reduction in initial bite/grip compared to stock VW brake pads.

I autocrossed my car in the Houston SCCA, NGS class back in early June 2015. Car did great, and I have a non PP car. I'm gonna be upgrading to ECS red stuff pads, and stainless steel brake lines for next months autocross. The only complaints I have are the crappy stock Pirelli P7 tires but I will upgrade them when its time to replace those.

I was doing some more research, and found out that Alcon has replacement rotors for the front, albeit Price is high(on par with RacingBrake's price but overall better quality i'm sure) I'm sure it is worth it, which will also allow for the partially cheaper rear matching Alcon Big rotor kit for the golf R to be utilized.

Replacing my Wilwoods b/c I dont race (yet) and don't want to maintain them every 10k miles.

My 2012 GTI, with only 10.000 miles started leaking coolant, turns out the water pump is bad, it is now sitting at the dealer waiting for the part.
