MICHELIN Tires
IanCH
  • Grip:
Rating 5.0

Personally I will probably never own a tire that isnt michelin again. Their tires are of higher quality and better compound than the rest in my experience.

Pros: higher quality, better compound
Vehicle: Volkswagen

Nokia Tires

A very competent "All Weather" tire would be Nokian WR G3. It probably won't have the traction as a dedicated winter tire, but will be better than an all-season tire. as it still has the Mountain-Snowflake logo indicated severe service.

Pros: better than all-season tire
Cons: less winter traction

OEM Volkswagen Floor mat
TexKlein
  • Cleanability:
Rating 4.0

I've got the Monster mats and so far love them. I live in Wisconsin, so the slush is a factor. Hopefully these do the trick. The Muddy Buddy cargo liner works great.

Pros: works great
Vehicle: Volkswagen

I have the Pirelli P Zero Nero All seasons, and live in Wisconsin. I still have dedicated snow tires, but am happy with the all seasons.

VALEO Alternator

I have a 1.8t motor in my Passat; but, I had to replace my alternator last January....and I took some pics...I went from a 90 Amp Valeo to a 120 Amp Valeo....the pulley had to be switched over to the new rebuilt unit (I went to an Alternator/Starter shop) ....old one on the left (90 A Valeo)....new one on the right (120 A Valeo)....

Pros: switched to higher amp
Cons: pulley had to be switched

EBC Brake pads

Alright, I will look into the Green stuff. I'm just not wanting to go too high, because I have many other things needing fixed on the car (80k mile service stuff, tires, check engine light. etc.... Trying to get it all done as soon as possible, using a little of each paycheck I get.) Autozone only carries Duralast... which doesn't have the best reviews on their website. And last time I did a pair of my brakes, they gave me the wrong ones and I didn't realize it until the car was apart. Quick question... Are these the exact same item, or am i missing a difference?: http://www.ecstuning.com/Volkswagen-Jetta_VI-Sedan-2.0/ES517817/ http://www.amazon.com/EBC-Brakes-DP...Series/dp/B001C8WOH6/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1405277008&sr=8-1&keywords= DP21517 I ask, because ECS says they fit my car and Amazon says they don't. But they are the same Part # (but amazon is $10 cheaper and has free ship.). EDIT: Also, is their a DIY guide for doing brakes on the MKVI? I don't do a lot of car repairs myself (Limited time/bad back from wreck, that makes working on cars hard)... But I am willing to give it a try if I have an idea of what I am doing.

Pros: cheaper with free shipping
Cons: fitment uncertainty, wrong parts previously
Part number: DP21517

Bosch Alternator
PDXGTI8V 2.0
  • Warning light:
Rating 1.0

non bosch reman alternators are the worst...they rarely last long, so you are having a typical experience changing them out all the time....lifetime warranty is nice with those cause they suck, period.

Pros: lifetime warranty is nice
Cons: rarely last long
Vehicle: Volkswagen
