Have any of the starters been Denso brand? I thought I remember hearing that for certain models of Japanese cars the starter HAS to be Denso (the OEM manufacturer) or it wont spin fast enough consistently to start the engine.

Pros: Denso spins fast enough
Cons: other brands spin slow

OEM Toyota Starter motor

Only issues I’ve had have been starter motor went, did water pump and timing belt when the pump went. Had the injector seal leak so got injectors done. Other than that it’s been a solid car.

Pros: solid car
Cons: injector seal leak
Vehicle: Toyota Hilux

I think the napa one is most likely to last more than 10 minutes. But my car is on its 5th starter with barely over 100k miles because the previous owners mechanic kept using anything but Bosch.

Pros: likely to last
Cons: short lifespan
Mileage: 160934 km

Replaced the starter with a remanufactured one from AutoZone. Looking back, it never seemed right; it would start okay, but sometimes it seemed to turn slower than other times. So, bad Duralast remanufactured starter apparently.

Cons: slower than other times
