OEM Nissan Starter motor

I own a 2012 Nissan Frontier & just got a new starter installed. Bill came in at just over $700. Shop has a great reputation, I've been using them for years.

Pros: shop has great reputation
Cons: price jumped over years
Vehicle: Nissan

Could be worse, could be that Toyota 5.7L V8 that puts the starter in the middle of the "V". Replacement means removing the inlet manifold. The good part is, it's a Toyota--you'll likely only need to do it once in half a million miles and maybe not even that.

Pros: likely only need once
Cons: removing the inlet manifold
Vehicle: Toyota
Mileage: 804672 km

OEM Toyota Starter motor

My sister-in-law who was staying with us for a short period of time had problems with her Toyota pickup truck wouldn't start, I went out with a hammer laying down and hit the starter and it fired right up. She thought I was a magician.

Pros: hit starter, fired up
Vehicle: Toyota

Bosch Starter motor

Get a bosch starter from amazon, any starter you get from a parts store is going to be shit quality. Bosch, or one direct from gm are the only good ones.

Pros: Bosch starter good quality
Cons: parts store starter bad

Ive just put the 3rd starter on my truck ('94 f150 w/351w) in about 2.5 years. All Delcos sense thats all I can get quickly here. The first one quite entirely and the last one still spun but would not engage the flywheel.

Cons: starter spun but not engage
Vehicle: Ford

My experience with Duralast starters have been horrible. They sell them with a 'lifetime guarantee', which means that every time they fail once a year or so, you have the pleasure of crawling under the car and switching it out for another one that is going to eventually fail!

Pros: lifetime guarantee
Cons: fails once a year

My issues with no crank no start was my starter. it would start intermittently, but then at times just click. I bought a reman denso and swore it wasn't the starter swapped in a new clutch switch. Swapped the starter out for another reman denso. Swapped in a new immobilizer. Kept swearing it wasn't the starter. Just put in 2. Took it to the dealer; of coursr, the RSX ran fine all the times they tried driving it. Finally bought a WAI starter off Amazon. It was the stupid denso. Normally, denso are good. Not so here.

Pros: WAI starter worked
Cons: Denso starter failed
Vehicle: Acura RSX
