Honda starters are known to be finicky about voltage - they need that full 12.6v or they'll grind like crazy. I'd try a decent battery first before messing with the starter, way cheaper fix
The only thing I hate is my civic ate a starter and replacing it myself was a POS because its under the engine. But my civic is still cheap to fix and maintain and relatively easy to work on compared to other brands.
Starter.. I had to get mine replaced after 4 years on a 2015 Honda accord
I had a customer that went through 4 starters from Napa. When I diagnosed it the starter was not fully engaging and grinding on the flywheel. Told them I needed to get a starter from Honda. After arguing and arguing and doubting and more arguing, the new starter from Honda fixed it.
I went ahead and replaced my starter when it sounded like that. Noise hasn\u2019t come back since.
Need a new starter. This happened to my 2010 about 14 years after i bought it. After a few weeks of this it wouldn't start at all.
If your battery is draining and/or this happens on every start, replace the starter. Had similar issues and replaced the starter and car starts way smoother now.
I've put 100k on my 2.4 Accord Coupe 6 speed, and other than the infamous starter problem, I've had to do nothing to it.
Our 2007 Accord was $2250 in July of 2023. It had 235k miles but was well taken care of. Put on maybe 20k since then with few problems...(starter and brakes).
Recently had this happen on my 2006 CRV. Started as a slowing crank, then it slow cranked and just stopped. Jump wouldn’t help, but I could bump start it. Turned out to be the starter.
