OEM Honda Starter motor
240802
  • Cranking:
Rating 4.0

Our 2007 Accord was $2250 in July of 2023. It had 235k miles but was well taken care of. Put on maybe 20k since then with few problems...(starter and brakes).

Pros: well taken care of
Cons: starter and brakes
Mileage: 321869 km

OEM Honda Starter motor

The OEM unit will outperform all the junk that people buy that's non oem. That starter lasted 20 years. It's a great product. You will likely have moved on from the car for some other problem by the time it dies again. The other non oem stuff "works" but longevity and crank time would probably been different.

Pros: outperforms non-OEM, lasted 20 years, great product

OEM Honda Starter motor

Starter.

My wife's '13 accord was doing the same thing around 120k miles. Happened now and then, progressively got worse (happened more often). Swapped it out for another one (OEM Honda). Starts like new.

Pros: starts like new
Cons: progressively got worse
Mileage: 120000 km

Denso Starter motor

I bought this at a very low price from a store that was closing down. Shortly after installing it, the car started having intermittent long cranks. I spent weeks replacing other parts, but the issue persisted.

After researching on a Honda forum, I learned that the Honda Accord doesn't like aftermarket starters—many others had the same problem.

For Honda starters, it's best to buy a new OEM one or a good remanufactured one(from Denso). I wish I had known this beforehand.

Cons: intermittent long cranks

OEM Honda Starter motor

I had trouble with starter on my older Accord too, and know two people who has Honda Accord that had to replace it to under 130k miles. This car type seems like had shitty starter esp prone to Accords.

Cons: prone to failure, low durability
Mileage: 209214 km
