Owner reviews for starter motor
Get a denso. That is oem starter manufacturer company.
ESPECIALLY with a Honda, go Denso. I had an experience with a failed starter (would only intermittently grab the flywheel) on an '07 Accord where the starter is behind the exhaust manifold. Had a shop replace (they used a Carquest reman) and the issue returned so they replaced again. Off the engine they both tested fine and in spec. Shop refunded the repair as long as I returned the 'faulty' starter so I decided to try but use a reman OEM Denso and it fully worked and has been working flawlessly for years now. It costs a bit more, but worth it - On a Honda at least.
The same warranty saved my ass too. Starter in my 2020 SDrive.
I agree with everyone saying starter. My 986 made this exact sound for a week or two before the starter completely died. Replaced starter and all was good.
I had the SAME issue and it drove me crazy for MONTHS. Its the starter. 1000%. I threw some parts at it but the starter fixed it. I went OEM Mopar and it was about $200.
Maybe starter motor is failing
We had problems with the auto on/off (not starting; laborious starting). We got a new starter and fuel injector installed.
I'm a GM technician and these starters fail just as often as regular starters except they are 200% more expensive.
Replaced starter motor and battery within 30,000 miles in my 2015 F150
