i just changed mine out.. i put in the autolite 3923's ($4 for the set) . they seem to work fine. one thing to watch out for though - they were all gapped differently out of the package. be sure to measure the gap before putting them in, just in case. (the gap should be .028)

Hey guys new flash, "rust free coating" wairs of your rotors veeeeeery fast, it might last a month. MIGHT think about it. ive had all three on various cars. right now i have zimmermans on my Corrado, and am very vappy with there performance. about the same as slotted
I have ATE powerdiscs on front and Zimmerman Xdrilled on rear. They both rust. I haven't had any problems yet with warping on either but I installed them about 2-3 monthes ago. I've heard that the Xdrilled can begin cracking around the holes so I'm watching out for this. So far I'm happy with the setup. I also have the mintex redbox pads. Slightly better than OEM and a whole lot less messy. My rims don't collect much dust anymore.
Here's something kinda interesting, when using Mobil 1 5w30, I experienced a higher rate of oil consumption than with Mobil 1 0w-40...I was losing approx .5 quarts every 2k miles...the 0w-40 loses nothing between 3k...
i needed to upgrade, all i could get my hand on were the Bosch Platinum 4's and im highly pleased. I noticed the very meager difference immediately when it came to the power. Also, i noticed a marginal difference in the gas mileage as well.
i have it in my 2002 passat gls and seems to be working fine so far for 500miles. I guess it does help gas milage a bit from what i've seen so far and helps a bit when carrying maximum passengers (5) in the vehicle cause i need all the torque i can get. Every little bit counts
I had my K&N drop-in installed around 5,000 miles ago by a local, independent VW mechanic. Works great. No idea whether or not there's more power, just care that I don't have to keep buying and tossing paper ones.
The car still has the stock Michelin MXV4 Plus 205/55 16H tires. I do not dispute that true snow tires outperform them. These tires suffice for both good and bad weather until one obtains more specialized sets for the seasons one encounters in their area. I plan on getting 17x8 wheels with Kumho 712s for the summer, and going with these for the winter until they wear out. Regardless, 4Mo provides superior safety and handling in any situation.
I have had a K&N in my 1999 Passat for over 20,000 miles. No CEL's or any other problems. I didn't notice any siginificant performance gains, possibly a 1 mpg increase in gas mileage. To be safe, I haven't put a K&N in my 2001.
My car is out of alignment too (neuspeed sport springs/bilstein shocks/17" rims). From what I am told, after having the car aligned 3 times, the only way I can get it back into alignment is to reinstall the stock springs / shocks.
