I could give you the part number but you need the caliper tool to wind the piston back . Part number is 1H0698451F . I know its Golf 3 part number but I prefer these to the Golf 4 units . Also just re-use the bolts the strength is overdone for its purpose . I also prefer golf 3 pollen filters as oppossed to Golf 4 ones

No you aren't a guinea pig. I have been doing extended drain interval for several years now on a chipped 1.8T. I run M1 5W-30 and average 17-20k between oil changes and currently have 200k miles on my '02.
I think the OEM filters are the best there is. Mann Filters – GTI 1.8t (OEM Supplier) • Oil Filter (W 719/30) – 9 micron filtration at 99.5 – 99.9% efficiency - By-pass valve opens at 2.5 bar = 36.3 psi - Cellulose treated with chemical – no fiberglass filters allowed in Germany - Long-life filter – has recently been greatly improved to allow VW/Audi’s extended drain intervals
fellas, don't forget that there is a new bigger 1.8T filter issued by VW. I got one for my 2.0 and this thing is huge. I assume it will filter the same but it will flow better as the filtering components are much bigger. Also the new filters will retain more oil in the system which is a good thing!
With winter weather finally arriving in Kansas City, my skid plate has finally come into play--twice. 1) Last night, there was a fairly big chunk of ice in the middle of my lane. Like something that fell out of an SUV's wheel well. Looked to be small enough to clear the bumper cover, though, so I stayed on course. KRUNK! Squished by the skid plate. 2) This morning on the way to work, there was a mound of snow/ice buildup on the corner of the road leading to the parking garage. Didn't even see it, but I sure heard it when the skid plate plowed over it.
I replaced the coolant tank, blue resevoir cap, thermostat, water pump and coolant but didn't help. Problem was my radiator was partially blocked. I replaced my radiator this spring and it's run like a champ.
Been using the 205 filter for 30K. I drive it pretty hard, so far so good.
ive been using the mobil 1 filter, my car is redlined frequently, and has seen the track on numerous occasions, ive had no problems.
my 1200cc engine also used to have an electric choke. my carb was a 28-PICT solex. then the throttle arm started leaking fuel, and there's no machine shop in our area who could fix the sleeve, so i bought a new solex 30/31 carb. it still runs good, but i miss the 28-PICT fuel miser...
I've used the air filters made by Amsoil in my current Jetta. I wasn't impressed. The air filter left dust particles on the inside of my intake tube so that was taken out soon after it was installed.
