I am running Continental Extreme Contact DWS06 in size 235/40ZR18 95Y X on 18" Omanyt (18"x7.5" ET51 5x112) R32 rims. My speedometer off by a few - I usually cruise at 74 MPH actual speed (GPS) while my speedo and cruise is set for 77 MPH.
I ran either Mobil 1 or Castrol VW Spec oil in my 08 2.0 TSI and had the usual high burn off with no visible leaks for 1st 100K or so and then switched to Ravenol VMO VW Spec oil I buy on line for a premium price but I like the fact there is little burn off in 5L change intervals which should equate to less carbon buildup in the upper intake of the heads. I have not done an oil analysis which would be helpful to know if I should be waiting to 7,500 or more before I change filter and oil. I had the misfortune of a valve spring breaking at 125K that lead to the head being removed and rebuilt at VW Dealer, the head mechanic was amazed how clean engine was (Mobil 1/Castrol) and the honing lines on the cylinder walls could still be seen indicating very little if any wear. I'm at 156K and burn about 1/2 quart every 5K and engine is as tight as Day 1 with APR Stage 1 Tune
I've had this TTRS setup running for 5k miles on my Golf R. Clutch kit: 07K-141-015-BX and clutch disc: Sachs 1878005146 . Overall compared to stock clutch with restrictor removed: Engagement is noticeably stiffer and the engagement area is a little \"narrower\". In my opinion it takes the clutch from being EXTREMELY light with the restrictor removed to feeling more like a \"normal\" car. Overall the change is not overly dramatic and OEM -> OEM no restrictor was a bigger change than OEM no restrictor -> TTRS no restrictor. In addition to not slipping, engagement with the TTRS PP is a lot more crisp and reassuring overall.
The automatic is doing fine. People have been tuned stage 1/2 since the MK7's release a couple years ago.
Its NOT the Brake booster vac pump lol I replaced that 3 months ago with OEM VW parts from the dealer $506 repair.
I'd recommend getting a kit like this (...) from idp because it has a Graf pump, which has a brass impeller - some kits use plastic.
I have had the Continental DW tires for between 25-30k miles. I have nothing but high praise for my DW's. Great wet and dry grip, not very loud, I've got nearly 30k miles on them and they still have plenty of tread left... I would guess another 10k. Predictable as well. I've literally tried to break them loose in rain while driving my CC, and it's very hard to do so. I've even slammed on the brakes in medium rain to try to slide from 35-40mph, and they just gripped to a stop. I love them... my wife even appreciates how quiet they are. I will point out though that most of my driving is pretty calm...It's rare that I really push them, but I have, and they were great. I'll be buying the Conti's when I get my new R in a few weeks. Edit: Let me also point out that I use mine year round. Even in the winter they've been great. I live near Nashville, TN...not much snow, but plenty of below freezing air.
I'm APR stage 2 currently waiting on a Golf R Turbo and a tune for that! Currently limited by my tires and suspension(only lowering springs, still too soft)
Had a Mk4 come in with \"a bad headgasket.\" Unusual repair for a model with a MLS headgasket stock...For the low price of using the wrong coolant the customer either gets to buy a used/reman head or spend big $ fixing this one.
