Change mine in my 2016 Golf R to this battery and it's been great. EFB shite didn't even last the first 3yrs.

Just finished installing these. Added EBC blue stuff and APR lines. Motul 600 fluid. I should add I did the same in the back but just went with one-piece stoptechs. notes: they are awesome and to top it off they do look amazing.
amazon.ca has Liqui moly TOP TEC 6200 SAE0W-20, VW508 00/509 00. Been using this since day 1 on my 2021 Tiguan with no issue.
I recently switched to Amsoil using a Mann filter. It runs great.
I used the Castrol once, and have been buying the assembled kit from ECS ever since. At 73K miles, now, and change it every 7-8K.
Starters don’t generally “slow down” with age, really. You’ll just find that one day it quits working. I had a failed starter on a 2002 Jetta, probably at around 290-300k miles
I live in a dusty climate I change my oil at least annually and I use Mobil one in my Volvo, Kirkland synthetic in the kids cars, and rotella in my air cooled vw.
I just found this thread. I have a 2014 Jetta 1.8t with 107k that I bought for my daughter two years ago and it burns through a quart of oil about every month. It dropped cyinder 1 similar to what the other person experienced, but new plugs and ignition coils solved the problem.
IDK - I was at 160K or so miles when I sold my '11 Tiguan. Sure, it ate a water pump, had the first gen timing chain tensioner replaced, needed cv axles, had a stuck fuel injector, lost an intake manifold, blew a turbo diaphragm, destroyed its engine mount bushings, struts and shocks went bad, needed seat covers replaced because they cracked and split and needed new tires every 25K or so...
Big problem with Duralast VW water pumps! The impeller is always made wrong or pressed too shallow, and rubs against the backwall and lockes up the pulley.
