POWER STOP Brake pads
Cjpcoolguy
  • Braking:
  • Dust:
Rating 4.0

Unless you do extreme driving (lots of mountains runs, hot laps on track, etc) slotted and or drilled rotors are a waste of money. They will cause much higher pad wear. Spend your money on good pads and buy meh rotors to get best bang for your buck and longevity.

Powerstop z23/z26 are both pretty good, have ran a couple sets.

Pros: good pads, best bang
Cons: higher pad wear

OEM Subaru Antifreeze
TomAGoyf2591
  • Temperature stability:
Rating 3.0

I have topped of Supercoolant ( OEM ) twice over the course of 60k miles / 3 years ownership. Losing the factory coolant slowly over time is actually a thing. Since I have done the 2nd top off on the OBW it is now maintaining for over 6 months.

Pros: maintaining for 6 months
Cons: losing coolant slowly
Vehicle: Subaru Outback
Mileage: 60000 km

OEM Subaru Engine radiator
colemac
  • Overheating:
  • Leaks:
Rating 1.0

I drove 200km to go camping, oil was ok when I left, drove 200km back and made it home fine. Then 2 days later when I tried to drive it again for the first time my radiator was pouring steam after 5km and it turns out she had leaked all the oil on the drive over the weekend which made it overhead and blew the radiator. The hot radiator expanded and cracked the plastic tank where they joined, once the engine cooled overnight that crack showed up and leaked ALL the coolant out and I had no idea. Had to replace the radiator but she's ok again now.

Cons: radiator blew, cracked plastic tank, leaked coolant
Vehicle: Subaru Forester
Mileage: 5 km

OEM Subaru AC condenser
CandidGuidance
  • Cooling at speed:
Rating 1.0

'21 WRX. AC condenser went out, the infomaintmwnt unit would glitch / shut itself off / become unresponsive, but worst of all was the rod bearing saluting to the world and sending itself into the rest of the engine.

Cons: AC condenser went out
Vehicle: Subaru
Mileage: 16000 km
