OEM Mazda Oil filter

The Mazda filter has a higher capacity and larger design compared to the OEM Subaru filter. So, it will hang down slightly lower than OEM. The anti-drain back pressure seems to be similar, but I have never verified myself. I ran this filter on my 2005 Impreza WRX STi for a few years.

Pros: higher capacity, larger design
Cons: hangs down slightly lower
Vehicle: Subaru Impreza WRX

HKS Engine oil

Never tried Royal Purple, but I only ever use the Subaru Black oil filters, or the Blitz Racing oil filters. For oil tho, I’m gonna be putting in HKS Super Oil Premium 10W-40 due to the phenomenal HTHS capabilities compared to Motul and VR-1

Pros: phenomenal HTHS capabilities

STOPTECH Brake pads

To me it looks like brake pad material on your rotors due to your street pads melting. Slap a new set a cheap pads on there from Autozone or something and drive it for a week or two that material should come off. As long as you don’t have vibration while braking they should still be good. Just make sure to use track pads next time. I personally run StopTech 309 pads because they’re good on track and street

Pros: good on track and street
Cons: street pads melting

KYB Strut assembly

as far as KYB struts go I can say the build quality is excellent. The shop I work at distributes parts to auto shops in the area, and while we have a ton of options the KYB’s sell like crazy. I asked some of the techs about them and they’ve only said great things.

Pros: excellent build quality, high sales, positive tech feedback

DAYCO Timing belt kit

I had a Dayco belt kit done on mine and after a year the belt started rubbing against the timing cover causing an RPM whine. Ended up switching to OEM from another shop and that's since resolved my issues.

Cons: belt rubbing, RPM whine
Vehicle: Subaru Impreza WRX
