Denso AC compressor
Ringotown
  • Cooling performance:
Rating 5.0

When I replaced the AC compressor in my E92 I went with a Denso. Just so happened that the original i pulled out was a Denso as well with BMW badging so I would go that route.

Pros: original was Denso

Pierburg Water pump

Pierburg is the OEM maker of the BMW water pump. Spending the extra for the BMW is ridiculous when they are 100% the same exact same pump from the same company from the same factory.

Pros: OEM quality, same as BMW
Cons: BMW overpriced

INA Water pump

In the end he put one made by INA, priced at about $60, and I haven't experienced a problem yet, been about 2 months in already.

Hepu Water pump

My next car I got a Hepu pump, which FCP lists as an OEM supplier. The impeller is plastic (or composite, I don't remember), but overall the part is so much nicer.

Pros: part is so much nicer

FEDERAL Tires

They are OK, but I don't prefer them. I've driven cars with them on and in the dry they are on par with the ADR-08s. I prefer the feedback and feel of the Hankook RS4's myself for the dry. That said, they are not good at all in the wet.

Pros: OK in the dry
Cons: not good in wet

Bilstein Shock absorbers
Cyrix2k
  • Body bounce:
Rating 1.0

I have the bilsteins with standard sport springs and hate them. They float normally & are overly harsh over bad surfaces.

Cons: float normally, overly harsh

Brembo Brake caliper

I had lots of issues with my OEM M3 brakes. Not only did they overheat within a few laps regardless of pads and fluid, but also the feel was bad. Hard to modulate, squishy pedal, just no bueno. The OEM ones are single piston floating calipers. Bad.

Upgrade to Brembo 4 piston and even with cheap pads on the same rotors the pedal is way nicer, predictable, and is way easier to threshold brake.

Pros: better pedal feel, predictable braking
Cons: overheating, bad feel, squishy pedal
