I’ve winter-driven my F82 a couple seasons now, and the SottoZero 3s are honestly solid they’re not as ice-grippy as the Michelin Alpin 4s you ran, but they hook well enough in packed snow and feel way more stable than you’d expect on a big-power RWD car. The only thing I noticed is the Bridgestones feel a bit firmer on cold pavement, but nothing crazy.
Best Tires for BMW M4
Falken, Toyo, Uniroyal etc are all good midrange. Don't skimp.
I track my G82 M4 with the stock PS4Ss for a few sessions when I first started. They are find for beginners and arguably better for learning. If you’re not pushing hard, I’ve seen them last a whole season or only two to three events if you’re actually driving to the limit. The biggest thing to watch out for is the lack of camber. The stock car provides about 2.5 degrees of front camber which will cord the outer shoulders should while leaving most of the tire relatively healthy.
My last car was a bmw M4 and it came with Pirelli p zeros. They were great in warm dry conditions but not great in the rain. They are summer tires so no grip at all under 40 degrees. They only lasted 12000 miles before they were under 4/32.
I use RE-71RS on my BMW M4 (3900 lbs) with Autocross since June and about 10 events so far and the outer shoulder blocks’ treads are about 50% worn. Took it to my first track day at NJMP Lighting and now outer shoulder are essentially slicks.
