APR Turbocharger

About a year ago, I installed the DTR6054, HPFP and LPFP, APR's Intercooler, intake, and of course the necessary tune and TCU tune to run the car on 93. I have quite enjoyed it over the last year, but it did lose some of the punch at low RPM that it had with the IS38 turbo and Stage 1 tune.

Pros: enjoyed it over the year
Cons: lost punch at low RPM
Mileage: 30000 km

I had to. my stock turbos started leaking (common issue for Gen 1 EcoBoosts apparently).

Now when I hit the gas at 70 to pass an 18-wheeler, it's all pedal man. She just keeps giving.

Pros: strong acceleration, keeps giving
Cons: stock turbos leaked
Vehicle: Ford

Turbocharger engineer/Ex-mechanic here; stick to recommended intervals or earlier, old oil will turn to sludge and feck thinks up massively. It is very common for me to receive; especially BMW turbochargers with sludge that has blocked up oil passages internally and cause the turbo to fail.

Pros: prevent sludge buildup
Cons: sludge blocks oil passages
Vehicle: BMW

You might of seen my thread about my blown turbo. I'm almost certain my Garrett GT28RS Turbocharger is blown and looking into possible replacements. This is the specs on this one. It flows nice and was really good for my current setup.

Pros: flows nice, good setup

Based on my experience with Seltos’ 1.4 T-GDI one thing I have noticed is that they are very sensitive to throttle inputs. Mileage varies drastically if you start driving aggressively compared to NA engines. Difference in mileage in City & on Highways can be night and day simply because of sensitivity to throttle inputs. Our Seltos gives 8-10 kmpl in City, and it gives 18-19 kmpl @ 80 kmph in 6th gear.

Pros: good highway mileage
Cons: sensitive throttle, low city mileage
Vehicle: Kia

OEM Audi Turbocharger

Within 3 years (approx 30k km) I had to have a turbo charger replaced. There were a series of intermittent engine faults that the dealer cleared or they went away. They only fixed it after the fourth time I had it in. Symptoms were slight loss of power at speed (once) and engine lights.

Cons: loss of power, engine lights
Vehicle: Audi Q8
Mileage: 30000 km

OEM FORD Turbocharger

I had a turbo prematurely fail as well. It was on my 2017 Ford Fusion Sport. On that car, I had a model with a known manufacture defect that was never big enough to trigger a recall. Both of my turbos failed at 70K miles - at the same time - due to a turbo seal defect.

Cons: premature failure, seal defect
Vehicle: Ford Fusion
Mileage: 112654 km
