To top it all off, the turbochargers are absolute garbage. Lag until 4,000rpm. Car has been an absolute lemon.

Mine blew up same miles but with a custom tune.
On my 2023 M240i, I noticed a metallic rattle when idle, followed by huge power loss and a loud whining sound. BMW confirmed the turbo is dead. It is being fully replaced under warranty. They found play in the turbine, cause unknown. The turbo itself cost $6,700, with total repair at $10.7k including labor and parts like coolant lines and a new wastegate actuator.
Turbocharger engineer/Ex-mechanic here; stick to recommended intervals or earlier, old oil will turn to sludge and feck thinks up massively. It is very common for me to receive; especially BMW turbochargers with sludge that has blocked up oil passages internally and cause the turbo to fail.
