Sachs Clutch kit

Having sold many OEM Sachs and Luk clutch kits, I noticed pressure plate rivets are slightly taller on modified pressure plates from many major clutch tuning brands.

Pros: OEM quality, good clutch kits
Cons: rivets slightly taller

For 200-320 kW, we've had great success with the Exedy standard replacement kit + upgraded billet flywheel. It lets the disc use all its material without heat-sinking the flywheel which is common on oem flywheels, and we've fitted 100+ cars comfortably making 400 hp on stock gearboxes. customer feedback is the exedy standard replacement drives smooth like stock, holds power, keeps the driveline and gearbox together, shifts like butter at high rom, and has been super reliable.

Pros: smooth like stock, holds power, reliable, shifts like butter

Exedy Stage 1 upgrade; virtually same kit as OEM, except pressure plate is just a wee bit stronger than factory to help hold a tad bit more power (not that you'll need it, but it's a nice upgrade nonetheless); I personally liked the Exedy more for daily drivability

Pros: stronger pressure plate, nice upgrade, good daily drivability

I replaced my clutch earlier this year and chose Luk's clutch kit because it was cheaper. It works fine, but putting the car into first gear was a little bit harder at the beginning, it almost felt as if I wasn't pressing the clutch all the way, but I was. It got a little better over time, and changing through every other gear is like before the clutch was replaced.

Pros: works fine, cheaper option
Cons: harder to put in first

Sachs Clutch kit

Be aware that the "newer" Sachs kits have been a different manufacturer than FCC which makes the OEM clutch. Newer Sachs kit seems to be an exedy clutch and pressure plate.

Cons: different manufacturer than OEM

Motivated by being able to drive my daily driver again I just went with what the mechanic recommended, failed to do the research. Now regretting driving experience on replacement kit with exedy single mass flywheel, and it looks like they had a dual mass kit that was only like $100 more.

Somehow engages later than the failing factory clutch, and shudders. Haven't felt like such an idiot driving a manual in 22 years

Cons: engages later, shudders
