Excedy HD is my go-to. Extra clamping force, no massive change in drive ability, reasonable price.

Pros: extra clamping force
Cons: no massive change

Every element I test drove had a heavy mushy clutch. The throw out bearing on mine went before the clutch, then replaced with an exedy oem kit and it feels way better.

Pros: feels way better
Cons: heavy mushy clutch

I just had the clutch replaced this week with the Exedy FJK1005 OEM kit. Since yesterday I have noticed a consistent humming sound whenever the vehicle is decelerating/coasting in gear. This goes away when the throttle is engaged and I accelerate. It's a very consistent low bassy hum, no rattle or metallic clanking. Only happens when in gear and throttle not engaged. I've read that the Exedy dampers in the clutch disc don't block as much sound as the OEM Subaru ones. Besides this the actual function of the clutch is phenomenal and significantly improved from the old worn one. New Exedy flywheel as well.

Pros: phenomenal function, significantly improved
Cons: consistent humming sound, low bassy hum
Vehicle: Subaru BRZ
Part number: FJK1005

Exedy stock clutch kit will be a good deal cheaper (assuming these are OEM parts). Also, an ACT StreetLite flywheel is cheaper and a great alternative. I’ve had one for a couple of years and I have no complaints.

Pros: no complaints, great alternative
Cons: cheaper options available

Exedy Clutch cylinder

Shop says its clutch pads but I think it's one of the cylinders master or slave. (I'm not really worried if it's clutch pads I need just don't want to be charged for a clutch when they only actually change the cylinders which are significantly cheaper to replace). Thank you for your time and input!\nUpdate all it needed was the jam nut on the clutch pedal adjusted. One of the shop techs noticed and fixed the issue

Pros: jam nut adjusted, issue fixed
Cons: clutch pedal adjustment needed
Vehicle: Mazda

Also it’s an Exedy oem replacement kit. To be more specific, I know some travel is normal without the slave installed. The issue is that the fork and bearing don’t even make contact with the pressure plate until the slave is almost completely extended.

Motivated by being able to drive my daily driver again I just went with what the mechanic recommended, failed to do the research. Now regretting driving experience on replacement kit with exedy single mass flywheel, and it looks like they had a dual mass kit that was only like $100 more.

Somehow engages later than the failing factory clutch, and shudders. Haven't felt like such an idiot driving a manual in 22 years

Cons: engages later, shudders

Exedy Clutch kit

I bought the correct clutch kit offered on OIWA (to generation and model) which is ACTY HA4. On the OIWA website and even the Exedy website, it was described as the proper kit to replace my models clutch, but when I pulled out the OEM clutch and compared it to the replacement, it was much smaller??? Now I’m afraid that I won’t get even close to the amount of life out of that clutch that I want since around 1/8-3/16 of an inch of the clutch is not even making contact with the flywheel…

Cons: smaller than OEM, incomplete contact, concern about lifespan
Vehicle: Honda Acty
