Brembo Brake pads

Rating 5.0

You've been quoted £1150 FOR A BRAKE JOB?! To put it into perspective, you can get fairly high end pads and discs (Brembo and the likes) for around £4-500 if you look around, and the job takes 2 hours tops.

Pros: high end parts available
Cons: expensive dealer quote

OEM Volvo Tires

It might be your tires. I have a 2020 XC60 with new summer and winter tires and it’s an absolute treat to drive in any weather. My 2021 S60 on the other hand, has near-end-of-life all seasons and it performs great on dry road but awful on anything wet.

Pros: treat to drive in weather
Cons: awful on anything wet
Vehicle: Volvo XC60

AWESOME bad weather tire, They are great on cars that see a lot of not so great roads. I run them on my all wheel drive volvo xc70 and they are fantastic. They handle dirt and mud super well, in addition to just not minding the snow at all, and they have really good hydroplane resistance.

Pros: great bad weather tire

OEM Volvo Brake pads

At the moment i drive a 2014 volvo v60 it brakes for me when going under 30 mph and something comes in front of me and I brake (too) late has lots of dings and dongs imho as I used to mainly drive pre 2006 and pre 2000 cars.

Cons: lots of dings and dongs

OEM Volvo Brake discs

I have a 2020 S60 T6 Inscription that’s now at only 45,000 miles — it’s been reliable except it went through two sets of rotors/pads early in its life, both times covered under warranty, there was a TSB so some kind of design flaw.

Pros: reliable
Cons: design flaw
Vehicle: Volvo S60
Mileage: 45000 km

OEM Volvo Windshield

One thing I am noticing though on a negative level is a very distinct and rather annoying whistling noise coming from the windshield (center area; rather top section at the level where the rear mirror is) starting at approximately 150kmh. I am driving often on the German Autobahn, the car is specified for high speed also - and I would simply not expect such a distinct whistling noise from a 80.000€ car.

Cons: annoying whistling noise, high speed noise
Vehicle: Volvo XC60

OEM Volvo Headlights

The regular headlights don’t shine very far and at night I feel like I can’t see far enough ahead. The brights are great though.

Pros: brights are great
Cons: headlights don't shine far
Vehicle: Volvo
