OEM Volvo Timing belt
DrC51Si
  • Visible wear:
Rating 5.0

All I can say is that the belt in this picture is 1000x better and will probably last longer than any non Volvo OEM pieces of garbage you’d buy off the jungle sales app. Heck those might not even get you back home.

Pros: better than aftermarket parts
Cons: aftermarket parts are garbage
Vehicle: Volvo

Bilstein Shock absorbers
Diogenes256
  • Body bounce:
  • Bottoming:
Rating 5.0

I converted a 760GLE to 5.0 Mustang power and everything I could get from IPD. The Bilsteins / urethane bushings and sway bars made that thing a weapon on the curves.

Pros: weapon on the curves

OEM Volvo Engine radiator

I own one.

Critical service items are: Aux belt and tensioner, transmission fluid change, AWD fluid service. These are outside of normal service items.Too, the timing belt.

I’ve replaced the radiator for a small leak. It’s been a good solid car.

Pros: good solid car
Cons: small leak

OEM Volvo ABS sensor
justcoatesy
  • Warning light:
Rating 5.0

Reliability has been second to none, requiring only an ABS sensor and windscreen washer pump (other than servicing and basic wear & tear stuff (brakes & tyres)).

Pros: Reliability has been great

MOOG Tie rods
JackfruitNo1856
  • Steering play:
Rating 5.0

I was quoted 1250.00 for ONLY TIE RODS. This chick went on you tube and watched fcp euro put tie rods on my exact 09 xc90, guess who did the job herself for $100 (moog tie rods) ME .

Pros: job done for $100
Vehicle: Volvo XC90

OEM Volvo AC compressor
niam-no-ynroh
  • Cooling performance:
  • Engagement:
Rating 3.0

my current car is a 2017 Volvo v60 t5. and I've done 175000km

love it. but almost replaced it in 2024.

next most expensive repair was a seized AC compressor which then took out the serpentine belt, the quote for that was $1600 but ultimately I got it done for $850.

Pros: got it done cheaper
Cons: seized AC compressor
Vehicle: Volvo V60
Mileage: 175000 km

OEM Volvo Headlights

The only issues I have had with my XC90 is headlight failure. Painfully expensive to replace but knock on wood that is the only issue beyond routine maintenance/wear and tear.

Cons: painfully expensive
Vehicle: Volvo XC90
Mileage: 150000 km

A pick-up truck with knobby tires kicked up a rock that chipped the windshield of my wife’s brand new Volvo within 30 minutes of her leaving the dealership.

Monroe Strut mount
Inahall
  • Clunks:
  • Creaks:
Rating 2.0

I tried Monroe strit mounts two years ago, they were supposed to be OEM-quality units. The rubber and overall construction seemed good, but the bearings were shot after just one summer season of street driving. Upon closer inspection, the don't even state a manufacturer on the bearing...

Pros: good rubber, good construction
Cons: bearings were shot
Vehicle: Volvo
