I bought a new air filter for carb. I reinstalled the front engine pan. I did an oil change. VW specialist recommended I go to Kendall 20w50 to fix the oil light at idle.
Volkswagen Beetle parts reviews
VW Beetles used exhaust manifold heat to warm the cabin.
I threw a set of drilled/slotted Z23 model PowerStop brakes on my 2013 TDI Beetle for shits and giggles because I had some extra cash and they've been superb. A bit loud but mashing them hard almost puts me through my windshield.
B6 or similar (forget the Koni equal) would be a huge step forward.
Replaced it with OEM Bremi coil (Made in Turkey), same as in car when new. Cost $110. with tax and shipping. Runs smoother than with the aftermarket.
I JUST replaced my wife's 2013 Beetle battery with a Duralast from Autozone.
mine was just an oil pressure sensor- $20 and 4 minutes of time. That is absolutely the first step i would take, if that doesnt resolve the issue then it could be something a lot worse like metal shavings (meaning internal issues that would be a lot more urgent) in the oil pan/pickup tube
I have changed the ignition coils, spark plugs, MAP sensor, fuel filter, and ran fuel cleaner in the tank twice. The only time it seemed better was for a couple of months after I changed ignition coils (Bosch).
Driving reaffirmed my decision to ditch these lazy tires. They only grab the road when they feel like it. They are a medicinal marijuana user making your bowl at Chipotle: doing a little work, spacing, doing a little more. I'll grab the road now, take a break, then grab again -- all while you're going around a single curve on a down hill slope.
So it looks like VW has stripped away a lot from their 2017 models, mainly the Beetle and Jetta. The GLI is down to one trim and no options again. They even removed the Bi-Xenon headlights.
