I got the light this morning on the wife's JSW. So I checked out the situation. Sure enough seriously low coolant, like well below minimum fill line. Only 7000 miles. Took it to the dealership to have it topped off.
My mecanician is now using TOTAL ( also known as ELF ) Quartz 5w30 and even gave me a discount price for the oil change. I know about the Sludge issue and is always doing is oil change at 5k with the big oil filter 51333
I swapped a motor into my golf yesterday fired it this motor hasn't ran in like 4 years. Right away the valves were clack a lacking like crazy even after running for 15 minutes and pumping up there was still one or two of them were quite loud. Added a half quart of mmo amazing no more noise.

I used Amsoil 0W-30 Severe service oil in my Jetta 1.8T for the first 120k miles or so. No problems, mostly 5-7k oil changes except when I was commuting from Ct to Boston.
My 89 cabby has over 400 k on it I use some of this stuff every couple of months, a bit in the tank, a bit in the crankcase. Works wonders on the lifter tick helps tired hydraulic lifters, nearly eliminates it.
So it turned out to be the water pump. According to the service manager, they've had plenty of TSI engines come through with the same problem and he wasn't surprised about my issue. The repair was covered under the powertrain warranty. I'm happy to have my Tig back.

this summer I switched from oem to platinum bosch plugs and just recently took to dealer and had plugs changed as they said the platinum plugs in fsi engine will cause some fuel to not burn properly.
