Best Oil filter for Volkswagen Passat

I used purflux on my Passat

I tried to buy a filter, a bosch is a decent choice, but I wasn't able to find it, or I should import it for 100 sar ( which is expensive, most filter sold for 20 to 50 sar where I live - saudi arabia -)

I've always used Mann or Hengst oil filters.

I have used Mann Filters and Valvoline European 5w40 since new. I have gotten the OCI dialed in at 6500 miles.

Last weekend I did DSG fluid and filter, LiquiMoly oil flush and oil change, and tire rotation on my B6 Passat.

I use Liqui Moly Leichtlauf and Hengst filters from FCP Euro on my 1.8T Passat. Highly recommend.

I run Castrol Edge 5W-30 with Mahle filters and no stabilazers since I don\u2019t trust that bullshit. Changes every 10,000km and she\u2019s still running beautifully with 205,000km on the clock

Tbf the b6 passat will probably rust away just by existing before the engine gives up. That being said, 1.4tsi engine is not great not terrible. Many problems with them are caused by lack of maintenance and by cheap oil filters.

B5 Passat (and Audi A4, same gen), 1.8T.

Filter - a big-ass 1.5 liter spin-on - mounted at an angle, directly above the front subframe.

Remove from top, after relocating the coolant tank.

Strategically use absorbent mat (floor diaper) to contain the inevitable spill.

I worked on a 2.5L 4 cylinder Passat not too long ago and the drain plug was a nightmare to get off, the oil filter needed a special socket- it was like a 32mm internal hex- I needed to borrow from a master tech
