I had Sumitomo HTR ZIII tires on my Mk5 Rabbit. They were $82 each for 225/45/17. They grip incredibly well, quiet and comfortable and were good in the wet. Couldn't recommend them enough.

yes really, quiet, grips just fine for a daily driver golf, and cheap ($224 for the set) I spent more money on my first set of tires, and realized i didn't need them. These fit my need perfectly.
As far as a water pump, the $24 Graf is your best choice. If you need the entire pump....that will cost more. I have also gotten very good water pumps from O'Reilley auto as well.....believe it or not. You probably should shy away from the plastic impellars.
I have a set of Indy 500s mounted to 19" rims on my GLI, been running them since January. Couldn't be happier, they are truly well rounded performance tires. They are awesome on wet roads, they have good acceleration/braking and corner grip. For the price and performance they are a good deal.
I'm going to put this the best way I can....... I am a glass guy, and yes, I own a '16 GTI. I can tell you first hand that the glass in our cars is not perfect. However, I will also tell you that it is very difficult to keep curved glass free of distortion...With regards to the aftermarket, I would recommend Sekurit and Pilkington for our VWs, as they provide VW with a lot of OE product. So, the guidelines for production should be identical.
got the windshield replaced today at safelite and everything went well...go with VW - its really not much more expensive. ensure that the camera/rain sensor details show up with the glass version. this glass comes equip with the glass-side hardware pre-installed that allows for the interior camera housing and trim to fasten/lock into it.
The Conti Control Contact Sport A/S tire is one of the quieter tires out there and has excellent wet and snow weather traction. Being in Michigan, driving in the snow, this tire is better than almost all all-season tires in the snow. I highly recommend these for the Passat TDI.
Brakes were great, no fade issues(Hawk Ceramic 5.0 pads up front, stockers in the rear) running Motul RBF. Mixed conditions so I had a little of everything, rain, drying, damp. NO bias problems at all, no issues w/the ABS doing funky things. The car didn't want to throw itself off track or anything like that, even in the rain. Just very progressive feel. They put up with me having to trailbrake the crap out of this car so I figure they did ok.
Bought one in 2011 when it had 50k miles, right now it has 132k miles. Never had a major problem aside from the MAF, original clutch works well enough but the struts are shot and clunking.
Skip the P-zeros, I hate mine. There's so much road noise I feel like the tires are made of cement sometimes.
