I put in the Bosch 0280160235 and it worked fine or at least I haven't noticed any issues. Fit was perfect. The new FPR solved the idle and stalling problem

Pros: fit was perfect, solved problem
Vehicle: Volkswagen Golf
Part number: 0280160235

Mobil Engine oil

I ran Mobil 1 ESP 5w40 in my 2.0 TDI for 80k miles and it was great. However it was discountinued so I switched to the Mobil 1 euro spec 5w30 ESP and continued to 120k miles and shortly after switching it gained nearly 2mpg. Both oils remained steady on the dipstick so if it used oil it was very little.

Pros: great performance, steady on dipstick, gained mpg
Vehicle: Volkswagen
Mileage: 120000 km

Im stage 2+ running a .028 if i run any larger of a gap I get these weird misfires under wide open throttle. Kinda feels like the clutch slipping but its not.

HELIX Headlights

Just wanted to follow up for anyone else thinking about running the same headlights that I found a working solution. To reiterate what MarcoCap24 stated, the Helix LED R Style for the Mk6 Jetta ( https://www.urotuning.com/Helix-Projector-Headlights-LED-R-Style-Mk6-Jetta-p/hvwj6hl-l7.htm ) LED UU's will light up as intended with a euroswitch.

Pros: lights up as intended

Nokia Tires
jjvincent
  • Grip:
  • Noise:
Rating 4.5

My suggestion is that the R2 is the best when it comes to not becoming really noisy after a few years (the Nordmans on my Jetta are pretty noisy). I have R2's on the Alltrack and had them on the Eurovan (it now has the Rotiiva AT's on it and those thing are the best Nokians I've ever had for all year use). So, skiing up in VT and driving through big snowstorms and ice, the R2 works just fine.

Pros: works fine in snowstorms
Cons: Nordmans are pretty noisy
Vehicle: Volkswagen

GENERAL TIRE Tires

Can go wrong with Nokians, in my opinion. I've had several sets on Saabs, my JSW, Touareg, and currently run studded Hakkepellitas on the wife's fwd GSW 5 speed. I ran General artic studdless on my GSW 4 motion 6 speed last winter and was pleased with the performance of those as well.

Pros: pleased with performance

Continental Tires
Ed52
  • Grip:
  • Noise:
Rating 4.0

I can add that I have Continental (Dealer supplied) 195 -65 - 15 on steelies on my 16 GSW. Using the electronic systems in the car, with 4 tall and narrow, winter tires, gives confident snow traction. Fuel mileage is not adversely affected and the noise level has not increased.

Pros: confident snow traction, fuel mileage unaffected
Cons: dry highway speed stability

OEM Volkswagen Alternator
Lwize
  • Warning light:
Rating 2.5

Mine has 69K miles. I've owned it for 4 years. Replaced the alternator and MAF sensor after failures. Keyless entry works only sporadically on the driver's door (lock switch already replaced - latch mechanism needs to be replaced, but for $$$).

Cons: alternator, MAF sensor failures
Vehicle: Volkswagen
Mileage: 111042 km

Continental Tires
Trumpster
  • Ride comfort:
Rating 2.0

I know the OP has already purchased tires, but I figured I'd share my experience with the Conti DWS's. The (soon to be) wife had them on her MKIV Jetta (225/45/R17) and they were SUPER soft. Really caused a lot of bounce in the car.

Pros: soft ride
Cons: caused a lot bounce
