BRIDGESTONE Tires
M Diddy
  • Grip:
  • Ride comfort:
Rating 4.0

After a massive blowout on 422 here in PA a few months back, and having HUGE bubbles in the sidewalls of two other tires and a large gash (no idea where this came from) of the spare that went on, I replaced all four with a set of Bridgestone RE980 AS+'s. What a difference in the way the car rides and grips. You can feel the Bridgestone's handle the bumps SO much better than the stock Conti's and there's much more grip.

Pros: better ride and grip
Cons: massive blowout, huge bubbles
Vehicle: Volkswagen

My problem (from 2+ years ago) turned oiut to be a bad starter. The solenoid must have gone south. A new starter motor fixed it.

Pros: new starter motor fixed
Cons: bad starter, solenoid failure

Bosch Ignition coil

I have them with APR Stage 1. R8 coil packs are not really an upgrade that people make them out to be... red = more performance.... Sure they came out of a R8 and V8 Touareg "BAR" engine code... but the coils make enough current to get a spark. The spark plug does the rest, and the features of the spark plug help with getting the air-fuel mixture ignited and burned. Because of the popularity of the red coils, you can often get them cheaper. I think last time I paid about $100 for the Bosch red coils from ShopDap.com

Pros: sufficient current for spark, often cheaper
Cons: not a performance upgrade

MICHELIN Tires

I put the CrossClimate2's on my 2015 Jetta TDI. 4% loss in fuel economy. Not only that but the car lost it's precise on center feel and required much more correction to keep in straight. Feels like driving on underinflated snow tires. I hate them and will replace them with the OEM Bridgestone Ecopias.

Cons: loss in fuel economy, lost precise feel
