Akebonos are a good, quiet, low cost, and low dust option for the street. They also get rid of the annoying "bite" that the original pads have. They're a much more progressive pad. Don't try to track them though.
BMW parts reviews
For my X5 M comp I go with the ultimate tire/wheel, windshield, ext maintenance (5 not 7). Curb rash one rim and you make it back… WS replacement from crack is the same. BMW glass has gotten softer and more prone.
Akebono has had the best blend of low dust low noise and good initial bite. I’ve used hundreds of different pads at my shop over the 14 years it was open and they were consistently the ones that had the least amount of problems.
Mobil 1 filters are fine. I use them all the time in my E92 and I'm at 250k miles with ZERO engine issues. My car is used for commuting and has no modifications to it.
I have a BMW cylinder head with bent valves waiting for the next white elephant exchange I go to.
Looks way better imo
Only thing comes to mind is the upper engine mount. the mounts has a technical update in 2021 I believe. they were notorious to go bad because the torque b46/48 produces. The mounts on my F60 were replaced at around 32k miles before warranty went.
And even the normal things they need are a little pricier than on normal cars; you might need ($300) brake pads and ($1,000) brake rotors in 50,000 or 60,000 miles instead of just ($250) brake pads.
OEM are Bosch but not pleased with them, after 1 year are not good.
Stock BMW tires are run flats. Run flats stink.
