  • Ride comfort:
Rating 4.0

I’ve winter-driven my F82 a couple seasons now, and the SottoZero 3s are honestly solid they’re not as ice-grippy as the Michelin Alpin 4s you ran, but they hook well enough in packed snow and feel way more stable than you’d expect on a big-power RWD car. The only thing I noticed is the Bridgestones feel a bit firmer on cold pavement, but nothing crazy.

Pros: hook well in packed snow, stable
Cons: firmer on cold pavement

R1 Concepts Brake pads

I might get scolded by the purest, but I went with these R1 Concepts on my 2019 X5.\n\nI too was shocked when the dealer quoted over 2k for brakes, so I started looking at options. I\u2019ve had them for about two years, they have performed excellent and they look amazing.

Pros: performed excellent, look amazing

OEM BMW Brake discs

Use either BMWPartsDirect or GetBMWParts website, buy genuine BMW parts and find a good mechanic in your area (maybe even mobile mechanic who would come to you and replace rotors and pads). In LA I paid $180 for the labor to replace front rotors and pads on my X5, for example.

Akebono Brake pads

  • Braking:
  • Noise:
  • Dust:
Rating 5.0

I've been running those pads for a while now, not only do they feel and stop just like OEM unless you're a person that tracks the car, but they also keep your wheels clean longer. The amount of reduced dust is staggering. No other noise, I've never had them squeal, even when needing to be replaced.

Pros: feel like OEM, reduced dust
Cons: none

Rating 1.0

I went back to OEM after Koni Yellows with Eibach springs on both. The freeways in SoCal were too rough and it felt like I was crashing constantly

Cons: too rough, crashing constantly

Bilstein Strut assembly

I had B6 EDC front struts installed on my f31, and the same thing happened to me - the front was substantially higher after installation than it was with the OEM front struts.

Cons: front sits higher
