OEM BMW Battery
stthicket
 • Indicator:
Rating 5.0

The battery is most likely to outlive the rest of the car. No need to worry. If the car has enough range for your daily need, then keeping it will be the best option.

Pros: battery likely to outlive car

Rating 5.0

I have recently installed new front shock absorbers Bilstein b4 together with top and bottom mounts. car drives like new, before it was kind of scary on the highway, wobbly and unpredictable. now suspension is sturdy, reminds me of tesla model 3 driving, you feel bumps, but car is kind of sporty, strict, even at 130 kmh. already driven 1.5 k km on new suspension, no problems so far

Pros: car drives like new, sturdy suspension
Cons: wobbly and unpredictable
Vehicle: BMW
Mileage: 77000 km

OEM BMW Oil pan

I have a 130i with 218k miles. I’ve had the car for maybe 5 months. Spent probably around £1,500 in that time period. It was mostly expected. The big costs were new oil pan, which was probably around £800 with labour.

Pros: mostly expected
Cons: new oil pan cost
Vehicle: BMW
Mileage: 218000 km

OEM BMW EGR valve
kinellm8
 • Idle:
 • Smoke:
Rating 3.0

Then had another e91; 325d this time. Bought with 30k, sold with 81k. Sold because it started costing me money (EGR valve, DPF issues). Most issues were from having a 3l diesel around town, didn’t do enough longer distance miles in it. Standard diesel things, but 50k from a diesel with relatively minor and expected issues isn’t too bad imo.

Pros: relatively minor issues
Cons: EGR valve, DPF issues
Vehicle: BMW
Mileage: 30000 km

OEM BMW Spark plug

Cylinders 1-3 were misfiring. They couldn't get the spark plug out of cylinder 3 because the other dealership had over tightened it. They had to get a special tool to remove it. The tool BROKE because apparently it was so overtightened and mis-threaded. They finally got it out yesterday and sent the cylinder to the machine shop to get the head off. I just got word that there is a hole in the piston and the valve head is completely gone. They are saying now that it has nothing to do with the spark plug being overtightened. He asked about driving through water, and road conditions. It was a dry day. Not an issue. They said I need a new motor at this point.

Pros: spark plug removed, new motor needed
Cons: overtightened spark plug, broken tool, hole in piston, valve head gone
Vehicle: BMW M4
Mileage: 23800 km
