My 993 C4S with “big reds” squealed when I did a brake job using aftermarket pads (Textar OEM replacements). After putting up with it for a few years, I swapped them back to Porsche Genuine pads. Squeal was gone instantly.

Pros: squeal was gone

Cons: squealed when braking

I switched to OEM pads and bedded them in with a few heavy stopping cycles and no squeals since.

Pros: no squeals

Cons: pads will squeal

I found the GT3’s brakes to be very easy to modulate. They bite very quickly for carbon ceramics and give you the impression that they could bail you out of most situations. Since the GT3 feels so damn planted, braking also feels like a total non-event. You don’t feel the weight shifting forward in a dramatic fashion or anything like that, brake engagement feels very immediate.

Pros: easy to modulate, immediate engagement

I did them myself for $600, Textar pads and Zimmerman rotors.

I just replaced brakes on all corners and saved about 50% vs dealership and they used OEM parts.

Pros: saved money, used OEM parts

The mid-engine handling is amazing out of the box and only needs brake pads and fluid to be happy at the track all day.

Pros: amazing handling, good for track

Textar makes good pads but they get brake dust everywhere. They are currently the stock ones on my 23 m40i.

Around 12k miles, the anti-rattle decal on the left front Textar pads melted and which made them rattle in the caliper over bumps. FCP Euro exchanged them for Pagid pads and no problem since. Rear Textar pads have been fine.

Pros: rear pads fine

Cons: anti-rattle decal melted, rattling

Well, I just put Textar pads on and am looking to swap them because they\u2019re super dusty and squeal with light pressure, so I too would love some recommendations.

I recently replaced some on a 981 with Textar and don’t recommend it. So much dust and some noise at low speed braking.

Cons: much dust, noise at low speed
