Just had a major service done on 2017 Hilux 4x4. replaced front rotors and pads and comprehensive safety check and report. The best quality service I’ve ever experienced

Pros: best quality service

front brakes are solid, i had trouble finding break disc locally for 4x100, and calipers you can buy rebuild kits or whole new ones.

Pros: solid front brakes

Cons: hard to find disc

I swapped out some very sad stock rotors for slotted ones and I DID notice a difference but only because I'd done the pads as well and well.... fresh brakes!

Pros: noticed a difference

I put a predator front engine mount and a Kinetic rear. The mechanics noticed that I had a warped brake disc, they changed the discs for Galfer and the brake pads. I had no more problems after that….

Pros: no more problems

Cons: warped brake disc

Mileage: 18000 km

Switched to Galfers last year on 2 bikes: rival and force. Out of my opinion, very well machined discs doing their job. I’m satisfied..

OEM pads and rotors lasted 150k miles so I went with them again. $389 for everything. Perfect fit, finish and feel.

Pros: perfect fit, great feel

Mileage: 150000 km

I had several issues with warping on my last Toyota and finally switched to OEM parts. Worth the extra dough in my opinion.

Pros: no warping, reliable

Cons: expensive

I currently have Galfer, SRAM, and the Shimano Ice Tech rotors in 180/200-203.. Honestly…I’m hard pressed to tell the differences between them once I’m going downhill.

I got a set of the galfer wave rotors and they absolutely screamed no matter what I did. I cleaned everything and rebedded the pads half a dozen times and even switched to organic pads thinking I was doing something wrong. Finally just tried different rotors and my brakes were dead silent

Pros: dead silent brakes

Cons: screaming brakes
