I did mine pretty early solely because the OEM rotors were wearing like a vinyl record. Both the pads and rotors still had plenty of material—it was just a bad wear pattern. I went to Girodisc pads and rotors and have had them on happily ever since.
Replaced with girodisc two piece rotors. They are great!
I have been running giro disc on my 991.1 GT3 with pagid rs29 pads. 15 days and only about 0.5mm wear. These are the only option for PCCB conversion.
I'm using a set of Girodiscs all around with the AP Racing calipers and it's a fantastic combo.
I have them on the Brembo front bbk on my e39 N5 and really like them for street use.
why not switch to 2 piece giro disc slotted rotors or ap racing j hooks
I had similar issues with my girodsics when I got them. The bigger issue was the rotors were hitting the top of the caliper and SCREAMING even when I wasn’t braking. I got in contact with Girodisc and they sent me some more spacers to push the caliper away from the rotor a bit more.
Rotors (Girodiscs 2pc) have already been confirmed to be seeing 1500F temps. Cracked annd needing replacement after 10-12 days on track.
Not only does my '22 SE have the most atrocious grind and squeak all of you know, i have a nasty groove in one of them. I'm going to all new rotors and aftermarket pads when it comes time.
Service from VW is what made me stop buying them. My wife's Passat was the last straw. We took it in a couple of months after we got the car complaining of a shake in the brakes through the steering wheel. They said it didn't have one even though I knew the rotors were warped.
