BorgWarner Turbocharger

I’ve personally used the Borg Warner EFR series (the 6258) and the performance is incredible. I’ve never actually driven anything that has spooled so well and so quickly. It completely changes the driving characteristics with the amount of torque you get from these EFR’s.

I suppose the downside is they use dual ceramic ball bearing housings. It’s how they spool to fast. If your turbo fails, it’ll be very hard to find anyone that rebuilds them.

Pros: incredible performance, fast spool, quick torque
Cons: hard to rebuild

IHI Turbocharger

I would suggest a ball bearing turbo like the vf52 and a protune. It makes it much more reliable and wakes the car up since it has the same engine and came as the sti, but a tiny sleeve bearing turbo that spools before the cam. I'm really happy with my vf52.

Pros: more reliable, wakes car up
Vehicle: Subaru Legacy
Part number: VF52

OEM FORD Turbocharger

Amazingly the 1.6 turbo in the Fiesta ST feels as if it has zero turbo lag and has a very nice torque curve. It really feels like a V6, not a turbo 4.

Pros: zero turbo lag, nice torque curve
Vehicle: Ford Fiesta

APR Turbocharger

I'm APR stage 2 currently waiting on a Golf R Turbo and a tune for that! Currently limited by my tires and suspension(only lowering springs, still too soft)

Pros: waiting for turbo
Cons: springs still too soft

GENERAL MOTORS Turbocharger

Turbo was replaced in January this year with 68k miles. Engine light just came back on today, willing to bet it's the same damn code too - done with this car.

Cons: repeated failure, poor reliability
Mileage: 68000 km
