AMSOIL Gear oil

I changed mine initially at 30k and refilled with Amsoil severe gear. Changed it again at 90k and wish I didn’t… the fluid still looked brand new.

Pros: fluid looked brand new
Cons: unnecessary fluid change
Mileage: 30000 km

RED LINE Gear oil

Really wish I hadn't waited until 37k miles to switch to Red Line MT-LV 70W/75W GL-4 Gear Oil. Made so much of a difference and there was a ton of debris on the magnetic drain plug.

Pros: noticeable difference
Cons: waited too long
Mileage: 60000 km

BG Gear oil

BG synchro is some tasty gear oil. I put BG synchro in my Mitsubishi Eclipse back in the day, smoothed out the gear shifts quite nicely.

Pros: tasty gear oil, smoothed out gear shifts
Vehicle: Mitsubishi Eclipse

Mobil Gear oil

Rating 5.0

I've been using Mobil 1's 75w-90 in both my 07 V8 4Runner, and my 06 V6 Tacoma TRD Off Road, for both differentials and the transfer case. Between the two vehicles, there's pretty close to 160,000K miles of travel on that fluid (Changed every 50K on full synthetic) and it's been completely fine. Zero issues with slipping or any metal particles.

Pros: completely fine, zero issues
Vehicle: Toyota 4runner
Mileage: 160000 km

I was trying to choose between redline and Amsoil redline had an exact match for my 2015 OEM weight. Amsoil ships from near me in Wichita Kansas so I chose Amsoil the severe gear 75W 90 and did the differential and transfer case. No issues so far

Pros: no issues so far

Castrol Gear oil

Yes i used castrols uk synthetic smx-s 75w-90, i tried this because it said on the castrol site is used as a problem curer by many manufacturers. Also i know from experience that synthetics help to cure notchy gears when cold, which it did the change felt brillant but i started getting random crunching in 2nd when hot and changing from high rpms. So i reverted back to castrol ep80 and crunching stopped but my 2nd is notchy when cold

Pros: change felt brillant
Cons: crunching in 2nd when hot
