Owner reviews for gear oil
I have the 5sp manual and use Motul 300 75w90 gear oil for the trans & dif.
As long as you're hitting the right weight spec Ford calls for, the cheaper stuff does the job just fine
Valvoline has their hypoids available in handy-dandy squeeze to dispense bags that let you fill the case up without spilling anything.
I run LiquiMoly 75/90 in my manual VWs.
The best gear oil you can buy is Motul Gear 300 but I’m not sure that will help you here.
Brakes are genuinely impressive for this segment. Only real issue I faced was chain wear — once you start maintaining it, it improves. I lube mine with 2T gear oil, works surprisingly well. Used Motul for most services, but the last one was with Prolube and the bike feels a bit rougher since then.
If Wavetrac and my gear manufacturers like Motul 300 75W-90, I'm content with it.
Amsoil severe gear lasted until ~3200 km, but it started again, but much slower progression.
I replaced the gear oil in my 99 6-speed w/LSD using Mobil Delvac 75w90 about 300 miles ago and it seems notchier than before, especially before it’s warmed up.
