VALVOLINE Gear oil

Valvoline has their hypoids available in handy-dandy squeeze to dispense bags that let you fill the case up without spilling anything.

Pros: handy squeeze to dispense bags
Cons: oil is oil

MOTUL Gear oil

Brakes are genuinely impressive for this segment. Only real issue I faced was chain wear — once you start maintaining it, it improves. I lube mine with 2T gear oil, works surprisingly well. Used Motul for most services, but the last one was with Prolube and the bike feels a bit rougher since then.

Pros: impressive brakes
Cons: chain wear, rougher with Prolube
Mileage: 12000 km

Rating 2.0

I replaced the gear oil in my 99 6-speed w/LSD using Mobil Delvac 75w90 about 300 miles ago and it seems notchier than before, especially before it’s warmed up.

Cons: notchier than before
Vehicle: Porsche 911
Mileage: 300 km
