Currently I run a blue top marine battery, I hardly ever drive my jetta anymore. Will start up fine after sitting for weeks or even longer. Love it!
I have the potenza pole position tires on my jetta and I will be getting a new set of the potenza tires come spring they handle wear and ride great for my jetta.
My Jetta had Altimax HP when i bought it. They rode very quiet and smooth, and helped return good fuel economy with a light foot. Not a sports tire but perfectly acceptable for normal driving.
Other than that I was happy with the tire. Ran it on a '97 Jetta (in NW PA).
I have the Altimax HP on my jetta right now. They ride smooth, but has some road roar noise- but not overly bad. Handling is decent and wet traction is very good. Only complaint is that it has been balanced 2x now and I still have vibrations (only) at speeds above 70mph.
The oil pump pick up screen separated from the seal due to debris built up and a piece of metal from one of the chain guides got through and froze the pump gears.
