Alternator wise, I'd definitely spend the money and acquire a nice Bosch unit to replace yours if you were gonna swap it.

Completed that mission. Big improvement on wiper placement. No more downward movement from resting position. Only issue I had is with the measurements \"between tips of wiper lips and upper edge of plenum chamber cover\". Manual says 17.5.on right side and 10mm on left. I have standard size wiper blades (22' & 19\"). I didn't make this measurement but know by looking at it, it's larger than 17.5mm If I were to lower the blade any further, the tip of the blade would rub against the right side cowl lip. These are 22\" bosch blades. Maybe the OEM VW blades are a little shorter and would allow a slightly lower placement. I'm satisfied with the turn out. Much better that what it was.
So, replaced the starter, and that was that issue.
I also replaced the front and rear struts. Man, what a difference that made in the ride and handling department.
My 2016 has 210k miles on the original timing belt. I check it every 5k miles during oul change. Still looks good. I’m a believer.
Personally I find General Altimax Arctics to be the best snow tire. Bought a set on my old jetta and now on my Subaru. The car is unstoppable in the snow and the price is right!
I’m currently running RainX wiper blades on my 13 Jetta with zero issues. Ran them on my old MK4 Jetta too.
The stock VW battery in my Jetta was 380CCA, and it started on super cold mornings alot quicker/easier than this 600CCA Everstart ive got in there now.
Tha catalytic converter is only 6 months old, but it's ine of those crappy "direct fit" MagnaFlow units.
I opened the Fuel Filter Housing up and noticed the Bosch Fairy had stopped by and littered my system with metal fairy dust. I dropped a magnet into the housing and pulled out plenty of extremely fine metal dust.
