PENNZOIL Engine oil

Frankly, we ran 0W20 for the first 175k miles in our 2017 RAV4. I changed to 5W30 because my Turbocharged Mazda also calls for 5W30.

Pros: high quality synthetic
Vehicle: Toyota

Falken Tires

On a stock ’24 SR5 4x4 with 18” TRD Pro wheels, the biggest you can usually run without rubbing is 275/65R18 it fills the wheel well nicely and still clears at full lock.

Pros: fills wheel well nicely
Cons: 285s need trim/lift
Vehicle: Toyota

Pirelli Tires

At 35,000 miles, I replaced the stock Dunlop tires on my 2023 Rav4 SE Hybrid with Pirelli Scorpion AS+3. Early days here, but after 500+ miles, the road noise is drastically improved. No apparent change in gas mileage. Could even be slightly better.

Pros: road noise drastically improved
Cons: ride is softer
Vehicle: Toyota
Mileage: 35000 km

OEM Toyota Engine oil

Always have done 10k on my ‘22 RAV4 hybrid, which equates to every five or six months (did the same on my ‘16 RAV4 hybrid as well), and do the same on my ‘12 Prius C I’ve had for 11 years now. No issues.

Pros: no issues, long term
Vehicle: Toyota
Mileage: 16000 km

OEM Toyota Tires

Yeah holes in the tyres generally aren’t great for holding pressure! That tyre is a long way past dead, it needs changing ASAP, i personally wouldn’t trust it for driving at any speed.

Cons: tyre past dead
Vehicle: Toyota MR2

OEM Toyota Oil filter

I’ve been bringing these OEM Toyota filters to the shop for years now. And they’re always the exact same ones, and moreover, they’ve always put them on for me without a problem. Today, for some reason, they told me that it’s not compatible with my car?

Pros: exact same ones, always worked
Cons: not compatible with car

OEM Toyota Brake pads

Rating 3.0

Needs brakes and suspension. Need new pads and rotors front and back and new calipers front and back as well, car is from a rust state and are pretty rusty. Needs new shocks all around as well since they're blown. With parts no labor I priced everything around 800 bucks.

Cons: rusty, shocks are blown

Denso Alternator

The Denso branded remanufactured alternator arrived from Rock Auto with a broken plastic socket. I arranged a return and replacement, but the second unit also arrived with the exact same damage. I believe the issue is with Denso's factory packaging, as the alternator is placed socket-down without cushioning. I returned the second replacement for a refund.

Cons: broken plastic socket, damaged upon arrival, poor packaging design
Vehicle: Toyota
Part number: 210-1113
