GODSPEED Engine radiator

I just replaced mine a couple months ago with a Godspeed Aluminum Radiator off amazon for about $175. Installation is pretty straight forward; disconnect the hoses, disconnect the electrics for the fans, and remove the radiator and put the new one in and reconnect everything.

Pros: straightforward installation, aluminum construction
Vehicle: Subaru Legacy

GENERAL TIRE Tires
CSFiend
  • Grip:
  • Noise:
Rating 4.5

I bought a set of Altimax Arctics last November for my Outback, and I've been driving on them ever since. In the rain, they're great. On dry pavement, they're great. On snow, they're awesome. Little bit more noise than non-snows, but worth it in my opinion. I have 30K on mine and they're wearing nicely. Still lots of tread left. For the price, you can't go wrong.

Pros: great in rain, awesome in snow, good wear
Cons: little more noise
Mileage: 30000 km

BRIDGESTONE Tires

FWIW, my WRX came with a set of the Bridgestones when I bought it. I had zero problems running year-round, and we get some snow here.

Pros: zero problems year-round

OEM Subaru Alternator
snowbarrr
  • Warning light:
Rating 5.0

Since the new alternator cost me $100, and the plugs and cables $50, why not! I've never even changed my oil before, but I just changed my friggin' alternator. Now, my car is running sooo much better, and my check engine light is gone.

Pros: car running much better
Vehicle: Subaru Outback

Falken Tires

I really like Falken, far better bang for the buck than BFG, or Pirelli IMHO. Had Ziex on my wrx, and on a few cars since. Great tires.

Pros: great bang for buck
Vehicle: Subaru

Carlex Windshield
dieselraver
  • Chips/cracks:
Rating 5.0

my subaru outback 2010 (way new) got a rock chip which overnight turned into a 3 foot long crack. i called Subaru, they wanted 450 for the glass plus installation. i laughed at them. went to safelight, they used Carlex, with the heated windshield element (option on my car) it was Subaru OEM glass, without the logo, replaced for $350.00. i will use them any day any time.

Pros: Subaru OEM glass, good price
Cons: Subaru expensive glass

NGK Spark plug
boxerswag
  • Idle:
  • Acceleration:
Rating 1.0

Subaru's like NGK (OEM) spark plugs and O2 sensors, respectively. They run poorly and will even throw codes if other parts are used.

Cons: run poorly, throw codes
Vehicle: Subaru Impreza
