Firestone Tires

I live in Wisconsin,  used to switch snow tires to summer tires every year on my 2x4 2008 Ford ranger, I just went to the tire shop, asked for snow tires,  had the Firestone ones, and some cheap ones off tire rack,  both worked fine.

Pros: worked fine
Vehicle: Ford Ranger

KONI Shock absorbers
Pizzaman_thing
  • Body bounce:
Rating 4.5

I’m currently running koni yellows. I don’t have experience with any others but these have treated me well with a 2” lowering spring on my daily. I would suggest them for a mid/entry level shock with some level of adjustability

Pros: treated me well, adjustable

LIQUI MOLY Engine oil
Saltywheels
  • Engine noise:
Rating 4.0

On my 2022 my first change I used Mobil 1 Full Synthetic (always used in my cars). However, my last change I put in Liqui Moly Molygen (green container) and it may be a placebo but I feel like my engine is quieter.

Pros: engine is quieter

LIQUI MOLY Engine oil

I use Motorcraft or LiquiMoly for my oil... It does a great job too and tends to have less of the burned oil smell.

Pros: great job, less smell
Cons: burned oil smell

OEM FORD Water pump

Trying to replace my water pump on my 2000 Ford Ranger 3.0L (flex fuel). I can’t find a video that performs this repair on my model; 4cylinders and v6 4.0 yes, but not the 3.0. There’s 12 bolts on the WPump, 11 are EZPZ, one is behind something else. I’ve got everything off except for one bolt that is stuck behind the “mount” for the pulley tensioner/AC compressor. It’s not the power steering pump, it’s not the AC compressor, and it’s not the pulley tensioner - *it’s what all 3 of these things are mounted too.* I’ve loosened 3 bolts that seem to mount this “mount” to the engine block, but I must be missing 1+, as it won’t budge.

Motorcraft Antifreeze
Mtnd777
  • Temperature stability:
Rating 1.0

The Motorcraft gold coolant that Ford used from the factory had silicates in it. It became a problem with the 6.0 because of the high temps of the EGR cooler, silicates turn to sand which clogs the EGR cooler which restricts flow of coolant to oil cooler which causes both to fail.

Cons: silicates clog coolers, causes failure
