OEM Chevrolet Alternator

  • Lights:

Rating 4.0

I had to replace the alternator and battery in my '99 Blazer because the voltage regulator slowly failed, after I replaced them I noticed the dim/flickering interior lights came back to full intensity and the annoying whine coming from my speakers dissapeared

Pros: lights came back, whine dissapeared
Cons: voltage regulator failed
Vehicle: Chevrolet Blazer

That Beretta served her well for years, with only a typical alternator issue being a problem later in it's life.

Pros: served her well
Cons: alternator issue

Mobil Engine oil

I've always used Mobil1 0W-40 and never had oil-related problems. In fact, my Dad used it exclusively in his 1988 Chevy S-10 pickup and only changed his oil once a year for the life of the truck. Today it's still running strong on the original engine with over 200k miles on it. And that's only changing the oil ONCE A YEAR!

Pros: never had oil-related problems
Vehicle: Chevrolet
Mileage: 321869 km

OEM Chevrolet Pistons

Also, if the piston doesn't want to go back in (it should only take moderate force with Channel locks or a C-clamp) get a soft-faced hammer and gently tap around the lip of the piston, if its not aligned right it will bind up when you try to push it back in.

Pros: moderate force with tools
Cons: piston doesn't want to go
Vehicle: Chevrolet

Monroe Shock absorbers

Monroe is not a bad thing. Saleen used the Formula GP's until they started producing thier own. I have them on my Camaro, among other things, and it pulls .88 G's on the skidpad.

Pros: Pulls .88 G's
Cons: not a bad thing
Vehicle: Chevrolet Camaro

Pirelli Tires
wilzy
  • Noise:
Rating 2.0

Now for tire noise, my Pirelli P7000 Supersports were quiet as could be. I read some posts about noise on them before buying them and thought "noise, what noise???" Well, after about 10k miles on them, they sound like monster truck tires roaring down the road.

Pros: quiet when new
Cons: noisy after 10k miles
Vehicle: Chevrolet Venture
Mileage: 10000 km
